Goodbye 2016, Hello 2017!

As 2016 closed we take a look back at what transpired over the last 12 months here at Digital Careers. 2016 for us was a year of change. On the 1st July we moved from National ICT Australia to CSIRO’s Education and Outreach. This has, and will, bring some fantastic opportunities to work with a national network of programs.

Throughout the year we attended over 170 events around Australia, ranging from career days, teacher professional learning and student ICT challenges. We handed out over 20,000 pens, 19,000 wristbands and countless information brochures and provided face-to-face information on technology based careers to thousands of high school students around the country. Hopefully we inspired students to consider a career in technology or finding something they love and are passionate about and combining it with digital technology to create a unique career.

We welcomed new staff members, introducing a State Manager to SA and a School Liaison Officer for North East QLD. As we continue to grow, we are reaching more and more students around the country.

We hit new records in the Bebras Australia Computational Thinking Challenge. With over 38,000 students completing the challenge, this doubled from 2015. Another 12,000 also used Bebras 365 which has become an amazing tool for classrooms.

Digital Careers continues to grow each year and we are so excited to see what 2017 brings. If only we can stop writing 2016 as the date….
